Casting The Novel

Casting the Book: Team Challenge

We all have an image in our heads of the characters from the novels we read, based on the explicit and implicit ways that the author develops each individual...

Your challenge is to cast the novel, using precise supporting details from the text to support your choices.

Steps to Complete the Challenge:

√ 1. Create a Cast the Novel page on your blog
   2. Brainstorm which characters you will include in this initial round of casting
   3. Expand your brainstorm to look at specifics for each character
   4. Find supporting details to back up your specifics
   5. Find the actors/actresses that best fit the characters your group has chosen

We will be returning to this challenge as we read each section of the novel!

What we think Tom would look like:
http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Jack_Gleeson

This is what we believe Tom could look like when portrayed.  This Jack Gleeson, a child movie actor that stars in the popular television series, Game Of Thrones.  He has the looks of a mean person that also serves as a bully to little children.  In this picture, I don't think that it would be very good if he had long hair, but it would be better in our opinion if he had shorter hair.  In the book, on page 44,  it explains that he is an early teenager that has red hair and freckles.  This is a character that would fit the general personality and appearance of Tom, so we believe.

What we think Matt would look like:
We think that Matt when he was younger would look like.  This is a child named Edgar Hernandez.  While this kid is not actually an actor himself, he is a kid that is from mexico that is supposedly the first person to contract the swine flu disease, or H1N1.  Because at the point we have read, Matt is now older than this age, we believe that this would work as the Matt when he is about 4-6 years old.  I think that this picture fits the description fairly well of what we believe that Matt looks like is because Matt sounds like he is a very adventurous person, and that he wants to go outside of the world that he is currently living in, to finally be free for a change.  Unfortunately, from what I know, there is no description of what Matt looks like.  Because of this, I don't believe that there are any pages that can tell us about this.  This kid looks like he is trying to escape a prison, something that Matt wished to do for the first phase of his young life as a clone.

What we think Celia looks like:

We decide that this actor/director would best suite the position of Celia based on the fact that she looks (or at least seems) of a middle aged woman who looks both confident an scared. This character as cell suites Celia because it looks like the skin colour is of around mexican. although I could not find the skin colour of celia in the book, I would assume that she has a tan and is mexican in origin. I could not find the exact name of the actor but I know she directed a movie that has to do with woman slavery in mexico. Another thing that makes this character look like celia is the background that almost seems like it is part of an old house or a train station. It looks like it fits the story.
